Cafe Envie is my favorite place for coffee, tasty bakery treats, and breakfast. The atmosphere is coffee shop heaven, and the coffee is beyond delicious. It is located on the corner of Decatur & Barracks, not far from the French Market. My favorite times to go there are early in the morning and late at night. Early in the morning, I love the egg and spinach wrap for breakfast. Late at night, I stop in for coffee and a tasty bakery treat. The brownies are sinful.
Cafe Du Monde is also a must visit place, because it is practically a New Orleans landmark. Cafe Du Monde serves chicory coffee(black or au lait) and beignets. There are several throughout New Orleans, but my favorite, of course, is in the French Quarter. The best part of going to that Cafe Du Monde, in my opinion, is people watching because it is located on Decatur Street across from Jackson Square. You have a wonderful view of the tourists and the street performers. Another highlight of Cafe Du Monde is that it is open 24 hours a day and located near a streetcar station, which means you can grab some cafe au lait and beignets on your way out for the day or your way home for the night.
